![]() ![]() Remote Desktop Admin was very expensive at the time. I can't find the disc, which was installed at least 6 years ago, when I was living in another city. It appears there is some file somewhere telling the system that something even newer than 3.7.2 in installed, even though 3.6 is now in Applications, and even though there is no download newer than 3.7.2. When I manually try to update 3.6 with the 3.7.2 update, I get the message "a newer version of this package is already installed". Choose Software Update from the Apple menu to check for available updates." When I click on Check for Updates, App Store opens, and when I try to Update Remote Desktop, I get the same message "Remote Desktop is already installed on this computer. When I launch 3.6, the App gives me the choice to Quit or Check for Updates. Then I dragged 3.6 into the Applications folder. The poked around /Library/Receipts and found old receipts for 3.3 and older versions from 2009 and earlier. So I removed 3.72 to an external disk, trashed it and emptied trash. I did find Remote Desktop 3.6 on a clone from 2012. My recollection is the App used to update from within the App when launched. It was originally installed from disc, a very long time ago. If the app is actually installed and runs fine, there must be a way to getting App Store to stop incorrectly indicating the App needs to be updated. ![]() HOWEVER, when I manually downloaded Remote Desktop 3.7.2 update, it would not install because there was no Remote Desktop already installed. App Store Update did not show it needed to be updated. Unfortunately, the link in the post " " doesn't work. I get an error message saying it's already installed. He said that within App Store it looked like the update worked. ![]() The post "Remote Desktop Client perpetual update" does not describe my situation. I also tried removing Spotlight indexing of the Applications folder, which did not work either. I already read the post "App Store Keeps Wanting to Update Apps" and this does not apply to my situation. I have only one boot disk, no additional partitions. I don't have clones, and there are no external drives. ![]()
